Central United Methodist Church – Winter Weather Policy 

 Sundays 

  • Decisions about worship cancellation will be made by Mary, Luke, and Hayes. 

  • Notification of cancellation will be shared via News 13, the church website, Facebook, and Instagram. 

  • The preferred decision is to cancel 8:45am worship and Sunday School if necessary – but be open for 10:55am worship if at all possible. 

  • Children and Youth programming will be cancelled only if the 10:55 service is cancelled.   

  • All staff, volunteers, and congregants should honor the road conditions at their own homes.  Do not come in if your neighborhood roads are dangerous. 

Weekdays and Saturdays 

  • If Asheville City Schools are closed, the church offices are “closed” – meaning, a receptionist will not be answering the door and phones for drop-in visits.  As a result, groups with plans to meet that day will also be cancelled.  This includes Wesley Singers, Bells, and Brass. 

  • Chancel Choir makes decisions about weather independent of ACS.  Communications will be sent out from Linda or Corey by 12pm on Wednesday if they need to cancel. 

  • Staff are empowered to work from home whenever necessary, depending on road conditions near their homes.
